Obituary

Jean A. Walker was born August 27, 1934, in Springfield, MO, to James and Freda Walker. She died suddenly in home January 4, 2017, She was a life time Springfield resident. She attended Greenwood and graduated from Springfield Teachers College where she was a member of Alpha Delta Pi. She continued graduate work at University of Missouri completing her Master's.

She began her career as a classroom teacher and counselor at Central High. When she retired after 37 years, she was Assistant Principal at Glendale High.

Jean's love of travel began when she was young and her family took adventurous trips, she transmitted that love to her niece and nephew.

She volunteered with many civic groups. She served several years on the Camp Fire Board. She was a longtime member of First and Calvary (PC-USA). She belonged to PEO-Chapter IS, Delta Kappa Gamma- Epsilon Chapter serving as its president.

She was preceded in death by her parents and her brother Bill. She is survived by her sister Roz Bays of Tulsa, OK, her nephew Kent (Di) Bays of Tulsa, her niece Pam (Sal) Uglietta of Austin, TX, and 3 great nephews and 1 great niece. She is survived by her partner Carmen Pyles of the home.

A memorial service at Gorman-Scharpf Funeral Home will be held at a later time. Donations may be made to a charity of one's choice.
