Obituary

Jean Tunks went to her Eternal Home the 27 th day of November 2022 at her home in Knoxville, TN.  Daughter of Herman and Margaret Anderson of Chanute, Kansas.  Born on April 24,1931.  She attended schools in Kansas and Bethany College in Lindsborg, Kansas.  She taught elementary grades for several years in Kansas.  In 1956 Jean moved to Denver, Colorado where she met and married her husband, Roger Tunks.  In 1960 they moved to Wichita, Kansas and for 28 years operated Grocery stores and raised two sons, Roger II and Barry.  Jean joined a 100 member Chapter of Sweet Adelines and sang in several quartets.  In 1986 the family moved to Springfield, Missouri.  She worked in the music theaters in Branson, Missouri for five years.  In 2008 Roger and Jean moved to Lakeland, Florida to be near their sons who were working in Lakeland and Tampa.  They always joined a church wherever they lived and Jean sang in Church Choirs for 70 years.  She always took part in Church activities and classes.  God's Light and Love were present throughout her life.  She was proud to be a "Child of God".

Jean was preceded in death by her Beloved husband, Roger of 57 years, her parents Herman and Margaret Anderson, brothers Vernon and Robert Anderson, In Laws Orville and Magdaline Tunks.  Jean is survived by Sons Roger Tunks II and wife Jan, Barry and his dog Stella, Grandson Shane and wife Natalie, Granddaughter Lauren and her husband Josh, Great Grandson Phoenix, Great-Granddaughters Charlotte and Juniper, along with beloved nieces, nephews and cousins.

Jean loved her family, her Faith in God, singing in choirs and Church activities.  She loved sports, especially basketball, and music concerts.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Monday, December 12, 2022 at Schweitzer Church, under the care of Gorman-Scharpf Funeral Home. She will be buried in the Missouri Veterans Cemetery, Springfield, with her husband Roger, following the service. Visitation will be held from 10:00 a.m. until service time Monday in the church.
