On July 8, 2023 Jean Shade skipped up to Heaven to her groom on their wedding anniversary, after a short illness.  She was born to Clay and Geneva Holmes on February 3, 1936 in Barry County, Missouri and was 87 years of age at her passing.

She graduated Salutatorian in 1954 from Crane High School in Crane, Missouri.

She worked as a waitress at Dunn's Grill in Wichita, Kansas; as a telephone operator in Crane; checker at Consumers Markets in Springfield; bookkeeper at gas companies in West Plains and Springfield.  Finally, she was an antique dealer in Springfield for many years.

She was married to Donald Shade on July 8, 1956 and they enjoyed 58 years of marriage.

Jean's greatest source of pride and accomplishment was her family.  She made sure all holidays and special events were celebrated. She enjoyed knitting and crocheting, bird watching, flower gardening, cooking, camping at the lake, playing bridge and for a time taught line dancing.

She is survived by son-in-law, Bill Ulp and grandchildren, Kristin Lloyd and Adrian York; son, Scott Shade (Maria) and grandchildren, Michael Shade, Corey Schroeder (Kayla), Matthew Shade, and Lindsay Wendland (Kyle); great-grandchildren, Calla Shade, Ruby Shade, Rowan Shade and Ember Shade; brother, Jay Holmes (Carol); cousins, Ben Johnston, Johnny Holmes, Carol Webb and dear friends Donna Lemaster and Charlie Robbins (Rosa).  Also the extended families of all the above, as well as those of her late husband, Don.

Jean is preceded in death by husband, Don Shade and daughter, Donna Ulp; two brothers and two sisters (and their spouses) as well as two brothers-in-law and a sister-in-law and their spouses.

Jean was laid to rest on July 12, 2023 at Osa Cemetery in Barry County, Missouri.
