Obituary

Jean E. Mitchell Jean (Haun) Mitchell, 73, Springfield, Mo., passed away Saturday, September 15, 2012 in her home. Born and raised in Springfield, Jean was in the first graduating class of Parkview High School and attended Southwest Missouri State College (MSU). Proud to be one of the first clerical employees of the Royal McBee Typewriter Company in Springfield, she then spent many years as a homemaker. During that time she also devoted many hours to volunteer work at her church and other organizations. Jean retired from the corporate office of Penmac. As a member of the Ozarks Genealogical Society, she enjoyed spending time on genealogy research of her family. Jean was preceded in death by her parents, G. Robert and G. Bertine Haun, also of Springfield. Jean is survived by her husband, Jim of 52 years; two daughters, Suzanne Broddle and husband, Alan of Wichita, KS., and Karen Finkbiner and husband, Eric of Tonganoxie, KS.; four grandchildren, Ryan and Sarah Broddle and Ian and Spencer Finkbiner; brother David Haun and his wife Barbara. Visitation will be from noon until service time at 1:00 PM Friday, September 21, 2012 in Gorman-Scharpf Brentwood Chapel. Burial will follow at the Springfield Veterans Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to KU Endowment - Alzheimer's Disease Center, 3901 Rainbow Blvd, MS 3012, Kansas City, KS 66160; the Alzheimer's Association - SWMO, 1630 West Elfindale, Springfield, MO 65807; or the charitable organization of your choice.
