Jean Adeline George, 88, passed away August 19, 2016. Born in Urich, Mo. to George & Mabel Onwiler, Nov. 24, 1927, the youngest of 7 brothers & sisters. Her family moved to Calhoun, Mo where she graduated from Calhoun H.S. and later married her high school sweetheart, Alfred George. Couple recently celebrated their 68th anniversary. They moved to Springfield in 1959 where they raised their 4 children. Jean was an awesome cook, a devoted mother & loving grandmother who loved to be with her family and friends. She was a committed Christian who loved serving in her church at First Baptist, Springfield. She retired from Sears in 1988 after 22 years of service. Jean is survived by her husband, Alfred, her 4 children; James & wife Debbie of Fort Worth, TX, Ken & wife Debi of Goodyear, AZ, Elizabeth Hilton & husband Frank of Ozark, MO, and Keith & wife Karen of Ozark, MO, 12 grandchildren, 14 great grandchildren, and a host of extended family and friends who loved her dearly & will miss her very much.
Visitation for Jean will be Monday, Aug. 22nd from 9:30 – 10:45 am at First Baptist Church, 525 South Ave., Springfield, 65806 with Memorial Service to follow at 11:00 am. Funeral services will be held under the supervision of Gorman-Scharpf Brentwood Chapel. In lieu of flowers the family requests that donations be given in memory of Jean George to First Baptist Church Foundation or to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital. (in care of Team Brett, P.O.
