Obituary

Jayne Kaye (Manley) Heintz, 88, of Springfield, MO., formerly of Osage Beach, MO. and
Nevada, IA., passed away peacefully January 9th, 2026 in Springfield, MO.

Jayne was born in Des Moines, IA. on March 5, 1937, the daughter of Maxine (Crawford)
and Carl Manley. The family moved to Nevada, IA. in 1945. She graduated from Nevada
High School in 1955. Jayne married Ronald R. Heintz November 24, 1956, at St. Patrick's
Catholic Church in Nevada, where, upon conversion to Catholicism, she was a lifetime
member. Ron passed away August 8, 2013.

Jayne worked for the Story County Commission of Veteran Affairs and the Food Stamp
Program from 1969 to 1976. In 1976, Jayne and Ron moved to Osage Beach, MO, where
they purchased Wayward Wind Resort, which they operated for 27 years.
Jayne and Ron were avid antiquers, both buying and selling. They enjoyed spending time
with their children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren, traveling and camping in their
motorhome, and extended stays in Texas and Arizona.

Jayne is survived by daughters Vicki (Mike) Shaw of Davenport, IA., Denise Heintz of Springfield, MO., Rhonda (Brian) Sykes of Humboldt, IA. and son Brett (Terri) Heintz of Springfield, MO.; twelve grandchildren, twenty-five great-grandchildren and her beloved 4 legged companion, Charlie, who was always by her side. She is also survived by one brother, David (Diana) Manley of Phoenix, AZ., two sisters-in-law, Helen (Robert) DeFayette of Gettysburg, PA., Mary Ann (Bob) Gardner of Nevada, IA., and several nieces and nephews.

We'd like to give special thanks to Seniors Helping Seniors, Springfield, MO. Their care and expertise helped extend Jaynes stay at her home as well as her daughter Denise's home and also resulted in new special friendships.  Also, thank you to the staff at the Township Assisted Living Community, Battlefield, MO. and St. Croix Hospice, Nixa, MO. Their close attention to Jayne's needs was handled with appreciable care and compassion.

Jayne was preceded in death by her husband, Ron, her parents Maxine and Carl, in-laws
Edward and Minnie, sisters and brothers-in-law Adrian, Jean, Sam and Lois and son-in-law David Ogan.

Jayne had a social personality with an engaging smile that drew people to her. She will be missed by family and friends alike.

Family services will be held at a later date in Nevada, Iowa, where she will be laid to rest next to her loving husband, Ron.
