Obituary

Jay Gardner, 66, Long Lane, MO passed away on April 8, 2021. Jay was born in Philadelphia, PA and moved to Missouri as a young teenager.  He was a gun smith by trade and could fix anything.  He ran a no-kill animal shelter at his home for many years rescuing over 100 dogs and cats.  He is preceded in death by his parents, John & Helen Gardner and a brother, Bill Novosel.  He is survived by his wife, Connie and two sons (of whom he was extremely proud) and their spouses, Nate & Stephanie, Willard, MO and Eric and Lacey, Clever, MO; five grandchildren and a brother and his wife, Lee and Sandy Gardner, Lone Jack, MO.

A memorial service will be held at his home in Long Lane on Saturday, April 17, 2021 from 1:00 – 3:00 p.m.  Jay was a huge animal lover and in lieu of flowers, the family suggests contributions to any animal shelter in his honor.
