Jay Charles Finley, III, Branson, MO passed away January 20, 2015 in his home. He was born April 22, 1947 in Jersey City, New Jersey and was raised in West New York, New Jersey. He attended Fairleigh Dickinson University and Montclair State College. He worked at New York Telephone before joining the Army, serving in Vietnam. Jay was a decorated Veteran, earning a purple heart, among other citations. He became a 32nd degree Mason of Scottish Rite Valley of Joplin, MO in 1997. Jay became a Shriner in 1997 with the Abou Ben Adhem Temple in Springfield. He was a member of the Masonic Lodge in Branson, MO, was a Noble of Abou Ben Adhem Temple, member of Taney County Shrine Club as well as the Ends of the Earth Club. After his Army Service, he received an honorable discharge and returned home to New Jersey and entered into the land development business. He spent 38 years in the vacation ownership business and was the President of Compass Resort Group. He served on the ARDA (American Resort Developers Association) Awards Committee for 25 years, as well as receiving his RRP Designation. He was a mentor to many and a true gentleman to all. Jay was united in marriage to Theresa Kathleen Law on October 19, 2013. Jay was preceded in death by his parents, Elsie Mae Miller and Jay C. Finley, II and a sister, Kathleen Ruth Devaney. He is survived by his wife, Theresa McCowan Finley, Branson; brother, Robert James Finley, New Jersey; a niece, Michele Turner, Branson; and two step-sons, Alec G. Stack, Springfield and Erik M. Stack, Branson. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. Monday, January 26, 2015 in Gorman-Scharpf Brentwood Chapel with Dr. Roger L. Ray officiating. Burial with full military honors will be held at 10:00 a.m. Tuesday, January 27, 2015 in Missouri Veterans Cemetery.
