Jay Hughey Adams, age 74, of Springfield, MO, passed away on Tuesday, March 13, 2012. He was born September 11, 1937 in Clinton, IA, to James Harland and Wilma (Hughey) Adams. He was raised in Bloomington, IL, graduated from Illinois Wesleyn and completed a Masters at Illinois State. He was member of Christ Episcopal Church. For 25 years Jay was a Professor of Jewelry and Metalsmithing at MSU. He was an early member of the Society of North American Goldsmiths and he had a passion for art, jewelry making, teaching, and his antique car. He is preceded in death by his parents and sister, Joann (Adams) Duke. He is survived by his wife, Judy (Bunyar) Adams, their three daughters and grandchildren. Daughter Lara Burger, son-in-law Chris; grandsons, Andrew and Ben. Daughter Jenny Keltner and son-in-law Rex; grandaughters, Zoe, Isabel, Lauren. Daughter Abby Isackson, son-in-law Gabriel; granddaughters, Chelsea and Philippa, as well as other relatives, many dear friends and former students. Visitation will be from 1:00 - 4:00, Sunday, March 18, 2012 at Gorman Scharpf Funeral Home. Funeral services will be at 11:00 am, Monday, March 19, 2012 at Christ Episcopal Church, Springfield.
