Janis J. Melton departed this life peacefully at Jacob's Ladder End of Life Legacy Home on August 13, 2021, after a short illness.  She was born in Chagrin Falls, OH, on June 1, 1934, the daughter of Cecil E. "Gene" and Grace C. (Shields) Griffin.  She was preceded in death by her parents and a daughter, Robin E. Melton.  She is survived by a daughter, Erin R. Palicki, and husband John of Springfield, as well as her four beloved cats.

There will be no visitation or funeral; graveside services will be on Wednesday, August 18, 2021 at 1:00 p.m. at Clear Creek Cemetery, under the care of Gorman-Scharpf Funeral Home.  In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to C.A.R.E. Animal Rescue, 1328 A W. Sunshine St, Springfield, MO 65807 www.carerescue.org .  Celebration of Life will be afterwards at Schultz and Dooley's Pub.
