Janet Lee (nee Jarboe) Crow departed this life on June 9, 2026.
She is survived by her husband John of 64 years and her daughters, Gretchen Dexter (Phil) of Branson West and Adrienne Crow (John Stoddart) of Athens, Greece. Also surviving are brothers Wallace Jarboe (Ann) of Dallas, TX and George Jarboe (Katie) of Poplar Bluff, MO.
Janet was born on December 22, 1939, in Poplar Bluff, Missouri to George Jarboe and Evelyn (nee Williams) Jarboe. She attended schools in Poplar Bluff, graduating in 1957 as salutatorian of her class. She went on to Central Methodist College in Fayette, MO, graduating Magna Cum Laude in 1961 with a Bachelor of Arts degree. She also attended Missouri State University (then SMS) for certification in library science.
John and Janet moved to Springfield in 1962. Janet participated in a number of community activities and services. She was on the CoxHealth Auxiliary Board for many years, serving as president for two years. She was also a Gold Life Member of CoxHealth Auxiliary. She was privileged to serve two terms on the Springfield Park Board. She was active in Southwest Missouri Museum Associates (Avant Garde chapter). Other interests included golf, reading, bridge, and politics.
In Janet’s own words: “I always felt blessed in my life. I had exceptional parents, wonderful daughters, and a loving husband who was always there for me. I loved both Poplar Bluff and Springfield and the many friends I made during my lifetime.”
At her request, there will be no service or visitation.
