Jane Kenney Smith, 69, passed away May 23, 2009, surrounded by loved ones. She was born November 22, 1939, in Park Ridge, Ill., to Jack and Alice Kenney. Jane was a dedicated sister, mother, grandmother and friend. She leaves to cherish her memory her husband of 44 years, John Joseph Smith; two daughters and their husbands, Molly and Rand Chappell, Conway, Ark., and Carol and Harold Zatorski, Richmond, Va.; a son and his wife, Tom and Heidi Smith, Springfield, Mo.; and granddaughters who brought her so much joy, Lauren and Paige Chappell, Kate Smith and Leah Zatorski. Also surviving are a sister and her husband, Rosemary and Peter McCaffrey, Leawood, Kan.; and a brother and his wife, Tom and Barbara Kenney, Frisco, Texas. She graduated from the College of St. Teresa in Winona, Minn., and spent many years teaching before retiring from Springfield Public Schools. Following her retirement she enjoyed painting, traveling and spending time with her grandchildren. Memorial services will be held at 3 p.m. Wednesday, May 27, 2009, in Gorman-Scharpf Brentwood Chapel.
