Jan Barnes passed away on Wednesday, September 23rd after a short illness with her family by her side. She was born July 16th, 1954 in Springfield, Missouri to Harvey Jorgensen and Virginia (Devereux) Jorgensen. Jan graduated from Parkview High School and then Southwest Missouri State University. In 2020, she retired from BKD after over two decades. Jan was a member of The Danish Sisterhood of America, as well as the Ozark Scandinavian Society of Springfield, Missouri where she was known for her coffee punch. She enjoyed genealogy research, knitting, and being an aunt. 

She was preceded in death by her parents and her husband of 38 years, best friend, and love of her life, Richard. 

Jan is survived by her sisters Karen Jorgensen and Jill (Andrew) Ingram and Dennis (Suzy) Barnes, as well as her beloved nieces and nephew, Tara (Luis) Bryan de Canellas, Sydney (Duke) Johnson, Morgan Barnes, and Spencer Ingram, and her great-nephew Montag.

A private family service will be held at a later date. Jan will be laid to rest at Hazelwood Cemetery next to her husband, Richard.
