James V. "Jim" Stone of Springfield, MO passed away August 7, 2015 at the age of 82. Jim was born in Cape Girardeau, MO and was a graduate of Southern Illinois University in Carbondale, IL. Following a career in Mechanical Engineering Jim enjoyed hunting, fishing, golfing, creating stained glass, dancing, and listening to live music. He was a member of American Legion Post 639 in Springfield, having proudly served in the US Navy. He was preceded in death by his parents, a sister, and his wife of 52 years Marguerite (Graden). Jim is survived by two brothers, Gene (Marci) Stone and Bob (Dian) Stone, two sons Mark (Kathy) Stone and Mike (Diana) Stone, a daughter Denise Ashley, grandchildren Kyle (Amanda) Bradrick, Ryan (Kenya) Bradrick, Ben (Amber) Stone, Jessica (Justin) Willard, and Madeline Ashley, five great-grandchildren, many nieces and nephews, fiancée Patricia Binning, and many, many friends. A memorial service with full military honors will be held 1pm Friday, August 14 at Missouri Veterans Cemetery in Springfield under the direction of Gorman-Scharpf Brentwood Chapel. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to American Legion Post 639.
