James R. Sharp, age 50, passed away April 16, 2014 in Republic, MO. Jim was a family law attorney with the law firm of Sharp & Bredesen in Springfield, MO and was a member of the Missouri Bar Association. Jim was born in Kellogg, Idaho and grew up in Salem, MO, where he was an Eagle Scout and graduated from Salem High School. He received his BA from Drury College in 1985 and attended the University of Missouri, Columbia, School of Law, graduating with honors with a J.D. in 1988. Jim was a member of the Civil War Round Table of the Ozarks, and Island Green Country Club, where he enjoyed a passion for golf. He was preceded in death by his father, Franklin H. Sharp and mother, Elizabeth H. Byrne Sharp and his sister-in-law, Cecilia Aravena Sharp. Jim is survived by his brother, Gregory R. Sharp of Tucson, AZ; sister, Patricia L. Brown and brother-in-law, David E. Brown, of Belize City, BZ; step-son, Lathan Glaser and his mother, Venecia Poirot, of Republic, MO; nephews, Jeremy A. Brown of San Jose, CA and Nathaniel J. Brown of Boston, MA; and niece, Maria Brown Coleman of Euclid, OH. Memorial services will be held Wednesday, April 23, 2014 at 10am with the Reverend Billy Wear officiating at Gorman-Scharpf Funeral Home.
