Dr. Jim Sammons, 86, passed away May 8, 2017 at home with his family, after a year-long battle with pancreatic cancer. His kind and gentle demeanor continued until the end.

He is survived by Gratia, his wife of 60 years, as well as his children, Jim R Sammons (wife Vicki) and Jeannie Robins (husband Doug). He leaves behind three grandchildren: James L Sammons, River and Reagan Robins.

After dental school, Jim served in the Army. He set up a dental office here in 1957, and practiced for 40 years. He was an active member of The Gideons Int'l, as well as a faithful servant of both First and Second Baptist Churches, serving as a Sunday School teacher and deacon. He enjoyed many hobbies.

Visitation will be Sun., May 14, 5:00-6:30 p.m. at Gorman-Scharpf Funeral Home. A Celebration of Life will be held Mon., May 15, 1:00 p.m. at Second Baptist Church.
