James Allen Routt age, 91, a lifelong resident of Springfield, MO, passed away Saturday, April 30, 2011 at 3:10 p.m. He was born in Springfield, Missouri on August 25, 1919 to James and Nettie Routt, who preceded him in death. James graduated from Senior High school (Central) in 1937. In 1941, he graduated from SMS with a business degree in accounting. During his senior year, he was editor of the college yearbook. In 1946, he was united in marriage to Anne Squires. James served in the Army in World War II, and afterwards worked in Kansas City for the Arthur Anderson accounting firm. He returned to Springfield in 1949 and opened an accounting firm. In 1979, after 30 years of practice he sold his firm and retired. During retirement, he did some consulting, helping firms set up computerized accounting systems. He was a member of the Junior Chamber of Commerce and the Downtown Kiwanis Club, where he served as secretary for many years. In 1949, he and his wife, Anne, were founding members of National Avenue Christian Church. He served on the church board as both secretary and treasurer, and in 1999 he was honored by the board and was made a Life Elder. James was an avid golfer and was a charter member of Twin Oaks Country Club, where he enjoyed golf for almost 50 years. He is survived by his loving wife, Anne Squires Routt; one daughter, Katy Anne Curtis (Sid); grandchildren, Melissa Curtis Miller (Chad) and Allen Curtis (Beverly); and two great-grandchildren, Rebekah A. Miller and Joshua C. Miller. Graveside services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, May 5, 2011 at Hazelwood Cemetery with the Reverend Laura Fregin officiating, under the direction of Gorman-Scharpf Funeral Home. The visitation will be held Wednesday from 6:00-8:00 p.m. in the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to National Avenue Christian Church Outreach Program, 1515 S.
