Robeson
November 26, 1939 – February 17, 2023
James L. Robeson, 83, of Springfield, MO. passed away on February 17, 2023.
James, fondly known as Jim or Big Jim, was born in Monroe, LA on November 26, 1939, to James F. and Otella Robeson. He loved hunting, fishing, and working on cars. Jim left Monroe in 1956 to join the U.S. Air Force and was stationed to the 121 st Fighter Interceptor Squadron based at Langley Air Force Base in Virginia. While stationed at Langley he met Jean Day, and they married on January 3, 1961. Jim and Jean were married for 53 years and were blessed with a son and a daughter. After his honorable discharge from the Air Force, Jim began a career in the parts department at a local car dealership in Hampton, VA. and later moved into a sales position with Bowman Distribution. He worked the rest of his career with Bowman and retired from the company.
In addition to his love of the outdoors, Jim was passionate about the Masonic Lodge. He followed in his father's footsteps and became a Mason in 1972 in Hampton, VA. After moving to Springfield, MO in 1977, he joined United Lodge #5 and later joined Gate of the Temple Lodge #422. This is where he took the path to becoming a Shriner at Abou Ben Adhem Temple. Jim loved being around people, whether it was in a garage working on cars or over a friendly game of cards. He never knew a stranger.
Preceding Jim in death were his parents, James and Otella, his wife Jean, his brother Glenn, and his brother-in-law Keith.
Survivors include his wife Vickie, his son Jimmy and wife Robin, and daughter Jennifer, all of Springfield, MO, sister Cheryl of Monroe, LA, stepdaughter Debbie and husband Keith and step grandson Christian all of Buchanan, VA, step granddaughter Victoria of Roanoke, VA, and many loving nieces, nephews, and extended family members.
