James Lee Norton, 80, of Springfield, MO passed away December 3, 2016.

He was born July 23, 1936 to Felix and Virna Norton in Red Top, MO. He was married to Darlene Cobb of Arkansas in 1953 and remarried to Linda Burrows Vermillion in 2001. He was a member of Springfield City Fire Fighters from 1962 until retirement in 1992.

James was preceded in death by his parents, Felix and Virna Norton and both his brothers, Robert E. Norton and Charles William Norton.

He was survived by his daughters Jami Norton Gay and husband Dan, Fordland MO, Kris Phillips and husband Stan, Lebanon MO. His sons James Kirk Norton and wife Phebe, Ash Grove MO, Kevin Lee Vermillion, Heath OH, Keith Dale Vermillion and wife Vivian, Lebanon MO, and sister Beva Fuller. As well as seventeen grandchildren, nineteen great-grandchildren and 1 great-great grandchild.

Memorial Services will be held at 1 p.m. Friday, December 9, 2016 at Gorman-Scharpf Funeral Home, with Reverend Dan Swadley officiating.
