James Eugene McNabb, 82, of Springfield, MO passed away on Monday, February 3, 2014. Jim was born in Marshfield, MO to Lillian L. and Hendrix H. McNabb on October 26th, 1931. Jim served in the Navy from 1951 to 1955 during the Korean War. During this time he dated Ruby Clayton Morgan. After his service he graduated from the Missouri University of Science and Technology. He started his career at Westinghouse in Pittsburg, PA. Jim and Ruby married on September 27th, 1958. They soon moved to Blytheville, AR and then on to Springfield in December of 1962 where he was hired as manager of engineering for Associated Electric. He was its fifth employee in a company that now employs nearly 700. Jim oversaw engineering and system operations during this time of growth. He retired from Associated Electric in 2000 after 38 years. Jim also served on the Board of Directors for Georgia Systems Operations in Atlanta from 1997 to 2008. He enjoyed spending time on his farm, with his grandchildren and attending local sports, most importantly the SMS Bears basketball games. His parents and one brother John Drew preceded Jim in death. He will be deeply missed by his beloved wife of 55 years Ruby Clayton McNabb; two sons, Steven and his wife Diane, their children Kyle, Ariel and Elise, David and his wife Brandi, and their children Rebecca, Kelli and Matthew; a brother, Hendrix Hilliard Jr. and his wife Jane of Butler, MO; his brother John's wife Lenora; and numerous nieces and nephews. He will also be deeply missed by his dog and best buddy Rex. Visitation will be Friday evening, February 7th from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Gorman-Scharpf Funeral Home, 1947 E. Seminole, Springfield, MO. The funeral will be Saturday at 10:00 a.m. in the funeral home. *In lieu of flowers contributions may be made to: Missouri S&T James E.
