James Matlack died Friday afternoon, June 3rd, at Cox South Hospital after a short illness. He was 91. Mr. Matlack is survived by his wife of 64 years, Marietta Irene (Dygard) Matlack. He leaves three children also, Lynne Hempe, (husband, Jim) of New Orleans, Louisiana; Hugh Matlack (wife, Kate) of Stanhope, New Jersey; John (wife, Cheryl) Matlack of Strafford, Missouri. Jim and Marietta have seven grandchildren - Chris Matlack; Mark and Julia Hempe; Marybeth, Ellyn and Jack Matlack; Felisha Richardson and her son Jarrod. He was a member of the Woodland Heights Presbyterian Church and an ordained elder. He also was a Mason of many years. He worked in agribusiness and retired from Mid-America Dairymen, in Springfield. He was an avid and excellent photographer. Visitation will be Monday, June 6th, 5:00 to 7:00 pm at Gorman-Scharpf Brentwood Chapel. The service will be Tuesday, June 7th, 10:00 am at Gorman-Scharpf with the Rev. William Havens officiating. He will be cremated and burial will take place later.
