Obituary

James (Jim) Edward Vaughan passed away peacefully to be with the Lord on Friday, January 22, 2021. He was born in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma on September 1, 1935 to Harold and Louise Vaughan.  Jim grew up in Concordia, Kansas with five sisters. He attended Creighton University where he played basketball. Jim graduated with a Master's Degree in Accounting from Wichita State University. He was the CFO for several companies before starting his own accounting firm, James E. Vaughan & Associates. He retired in 2008.

Jim attended Holy Trinity Catholic Church. He was a life-time member of the Knights of Columbus and the Lions Club. He loved golfing, bowling and was an avid fan of the World Series Champion, St. Louis Cardinals. He was often seen wearing cardinal red.

Jim served in the Army during the Korean War. He then served with the National Guard.

He met the love of his life, Valentina Laluk, while she was on a date with someone else. He was persistent, and they married in Mankato, Kansas on May 13, 1961. This May will be their 60 th wedding anniversary.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Harold and Louise Vaughan of Concordia, Kansas; and five sisters, Betty Letourneau (Vaughan), Sister Rose Vaughan, Sister Louise Marie Vaughan, Sister Merriam Vaughan and Dorothy Otott (Vaughan).

Jim is survived by his wife, Valentina Vaughan (Laluk). His children Mark Vaughan and wife Dana; Susan D. Hill (Vaughan) and husband David; Julie Courtney (Vaughan); Cathy Tracy (Vaughan) and husband Mark; and David Vaughan and wife Deana. He also has fourteen grandchildren, Ashley, Jeremy, Madison, McKenzie, Samantha, Austin, Cooper, Piper, Noah, Sydney, Palmer, Bowie, Valentina, Walter, and one great-granddaughter, Ava.

A Catholic Mass will be held at Holy Trinity Catholic Church in Springfield, Missouri on Wednesday, January 27, 2021 at 10am, under the care of Gorman-Scharpf Funeral Home. There will be a private graveside family service at the Missouri Veterans Cemetery.  Jim will be receiving Military Funeral Honors.
