James Duff, 64 of Springfield passed away Saturday, March 18, 2023 in Mercy Hospital.

He was born the son of Charles and Irene Duff in Springfield on February 12, 1959.

He served two years in the US Navy and then became a homeless vet.  While he led a hard life, he was the biggest hearted, kindest man to be known. He never knew a stranger.

He was preceded in death by his parents; step-mother, Jane and a brother-in-law, Hayward Ray.

James is survived by daughter, Irene (John); son, Tyler; grandchildren, Christine and Isaac; siblings, Raymond (Zella), Liz (Jack), Ron (Carla), Robert (Sally), Loretto (Steve), and Rose (Ron); many nieces, nephews and greats as well as numerous cousins, friends and homeless still struggling.

Memorial Mass will be Friday, March 31, 2023 at 11:00 AM in Sacred Heart Catholic Church. Burial with full military honors will be at 1:00 PM in Missouri Veterans Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to The Kitchen and Home At Last (Veterans).
