James Thomas Davis, 92, a kind and gentle husband, father, grandfather and great-grandpa, died Saturday, October 15, 2016, at Mercy Hospital.
He was born in the Vandalia, Missouri, area July 9, 1924, to James Henson Davis and Alice Vest-Deaver Davis. He spent most of his working life at A. P. Green Refractories in Mexico, Missouri, retiring in 1986. He and his wife, Lois, moved to Springfield in 1993.
Survivors include his wife of 69 years, Lois (Anderson), Springfield; daughters Deborah Davis, Nixa; and Dianne (Bennett) and husband, David, St. Louis; son James Steven and wife, Emilie, Syracuse, New York; granddaughters Chalice Lafferty (husband Matt) , Chicago; Rachel Franklin (husband, Bo), Cincinnati; great-grandchildren Sophia and Bennett Lafferty; and a beloved Boston Terrier, Blossom.
James, a World War II veteran of three years' service in the U.S. Navy (1943-46), was a member of Wesley United Methodist Church. He was an avid Cardinals baseball fan and excellent pool player-but golf, not so much.
