Obituary

James "Jimmy" Cox passed away peacefully from complications of Parkinson's disease on Nov. 3, 2011. He was born January 26, 1937 to Frank and Ruby Cox. He was preceded in death by his wife of 47 years, Zelma McClanahan Cox and younger brother, Larry B. Cox. He is survived by five children, ten grandchildren, three great-grandchildren, several nephews, nieces, and cousins of all ages. James joined the army at age 16 in 1953, serving three years active duty then in the Army Nat'l Guard, 36 years with the 203rd Eng. Co.in Joplin until 1992. He worked for Associate Grocers from 1968 to 1998 until his much deserved retirement. His work ethic was second to none. Visitation will be Nov. 12, 2011 at 10 a.m. at the Gorman-Scharpf Funeral Home in Springfield, MO, followed by services at 11. He will be laid to rest with full military honors on Nov. 14, 2011 at 11 a.m. in the Mo. Veterans Cemetery.
