He served as the president of the Springfield Dental Society in 1972, and was a longtime member, Elder, and Stephen Minister of First and Calvary Presbyterian Church. During his retirement, Jim volunteered for Meals on Wheels, golfed with his friends, and enjoyed spending time with loved ones at Table Rock Lake. He was preceded in death by his parents and three brothers. He will be greatly missed by his surviving family which includes: his wife, Nancy, of sixty-one years, their daughters, Cathy Claxton, Dallas, Texas; Leslie Claxton, Rolla, Missouri; Nancy Hooper, Fort Worth, Texas; Sally Larson and husband Kurt, of Springfield; four grandchildren and one great grandchild.
