James Howard Cawood, 83, Springfield, passed away unexpectedly on April 25, 2012. James was born June 23, 1928 to Howard and Tollie Cawood of Oklahoma. James lived most of his life in Oklahoma before moving to Springfield, MO in 1995. James retired from Hodges Trucking and Oil Company as an accountant in Oklahoma. He served in the U.S. Air Force from 1950 to 1953. On April 22, 1947, he married the love of his life, Patricia A. Cawood, and together they had two wonderful sons Marc Cawood and Michael Cawood. James enjoyed traveling the Rocky Mountains in Colorado and spending quality time with his family. James is survived by his son Michael Cawood, Celina, TX; son and daughter-in-law Marc and Tresa Cawood, Springfield, MO; sister Clova Wood, San Antonio, TX; and sister WillaDell Roush, St. Louis, MO; and a brother Marvin Cawood, Oklahoma City, OK. Graveside services will be held at 11:00am Friday, April 27, 2012 in Hazelwood Cemetery under the direction of Gorman-Scharpf Brentwood Chapel. No formal visitation is planned however; friends may call from 2pm to 7pm on Thursday evening. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society.
