James P. "Jim" Brines, 63, Springfield, Missouri, unexpectedly passed away at 12:58 a.m., Saturday, December 12, 2009. Jim was born October 28, 1946, in Lebanon, Missouri, to Bill and Vada Malone Brines. Jim owned and operated Brines Texaco, Brines Towing, Westport Auto Salvage & Midwest Towing. He was a member of Hopedale Baptist Church. Jim was a Past Worshipful Master of the masonic lodge. He is survived by his wife, Joyce; a daughter, Debi and her husband, Chris Woodward; a son, Will and his wife, Chassy Brines; a sister, Jan Turner; a nephew, Jason and his wife, Jessica, and their son, Evan; niece, Laura and her husband, Allen; three grandchildren, Justin, Bailey, and Brookelynn Brines; and numerous aunts, uncles, cousins and dear friends. A celebration of Jim's life will be at 1 p.m. Wednesday, December 16, in Gorman-Scharpf Funeral Home with longtime devoted personal friend Dr. Jim Reimer officiating, with burial to follow in White Chapel Memorial Gardens. Visitations will be from 7:00 to 9:00 p.m. Tuesday evening in the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to the Greene County 4H Club, 833 N. Booneville, Springfield, Mo 65802. Jim was a very devoted family man, he was a man of faith, courage, honor and faced challenges head on. Jim NEVER gave up!
