Andrews, Jr.
October 4, 1924 – June 28, 2022
James Paul Andrews Jr. was called to be with his Lord and Savior on June 28, 2022. Born in Springfield, Missouri on October 4, 1924, he lived a long and prosperous life.
He is survived by his sister Nancy Sue Nichols, brother-in-law Paul Wesley Nichols, sons, David Paul Andrews and William Charles Andrews, daughter, Cathie Lynn Andrews, grandson, Eric Brent Andrews, daughter-in-law, Brooke Andrews, grandson Colby William Andrews, daughter-in-law, Heather Andrews, great granddaughter's, Lindsey Kay Argo and Madison Renee Andrews, great grandsons Cooper Reece Andrews and Gavin Breck Andrews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, James Paul Andrews Sr. and Esther Louise Andrews, wife, Ada Corine Virdon, and daughter-in-law Linda Sue Hughes Andrews.
James "Jim", graduated from Central High School in Springfield, Missouri in 1941 After attended Drury College for a short time he decided to join the Navy. He was stationed in Pearl Harbor, Hawaii for approximately two years as a Pharmacist's Mate 2nd Class and was honorably discharged on 2/25/1946. After returning home and struggling to make a living on the small family farm, Jim decided to continue his education at Southwest Missouri State College and was able to obtain a degree in 1953. He was hired by the United Stated Department of Agriculture, Division of Soil Conservation Service, where he spent his career. During his tenure he was able to obtain a G-12 raking and retired in 1985 after thirty years of service. Jim loved the outdoors especially fishing, golfing, and spending time in his garden. Even though he carried a 40 handicap he bragged about still playing golf well into his 90's.
Jim's life will be honored at a graveside service held in Springfield National Cemetery, 1702 E. Seminole, Springfield, MO on Tuesday, July 5, 2022 at 11:00 am under the care of Gorman-Scharpf Funeral Home.
