James Alan Miller (1952-2023)
Jim Miller (70) of Springfield, MO was called home to be with his Lord on March 6, 2023.
Jim was born April 30, 1952 in Kirksville, MO. He was the second son of Elzie and Miriam Miller. In 1956, his family settled in Springfield, MO with another brother and sister coming soon after. Jim graduated from Glendale High School in 1970. Majoring in English, he graduated from Drury College in 1974. After attending the University of Missouri School of Law, Jim moved from Columbia, MO back to Springfield to begin his law practice. Jim's faith was always an important part of his life and he was a long time member of University Heights Baptist Church. Jim loved spending time with his family and friends. He especially enjoyed being outdoors camping, hiking, fishing, canoeing, sailing, snow skiing and water skiing on Table Rock Lake. He was also passionate about tennis, Drury basketball, and the Chiefs. He loved coaching his nephews, cousins and brother in baseball and continued to be a lifetime encourager and supporter. One of Jim's greatest joys was being an uncle to his 3 nephews, and they were an important part of his life. He was a wonderful uncle!
Jim was preceded in death by his parents, Elzie and Miriam Miller. He is survived by his brothers, E. Irvin Miller (Linda), David Miller, his sister, Elizabeth Klousia (Jim), his nephews, Clint Miller (Rachael), Brent Miller (Cate), Micah Klousia (Mikayla) and a loving close-knit group of great nieces and nephews, aunts, uncle and cousins who all loved him dearly.
Visitation will be held from 1:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m. Saturday, March 25, 2023 in Gorman-Scharpf Funeral Home, with a service beginning at 2:00 p.m. Private burial will be held in Hazelwood Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to University Heights Baptist Church.
