James "Pete" Edwards age 92, of Springfield, MO, passed away on Saturday, May 1 ^st at 6:05am at his home.

He was born September 6, 1928 in Calhoun, MS to Edna and Edwin Edwards.  He was a member of the First Baptist Church of Ozark.

Pete was a devout Christian man serving as a deacon and Sunday school teacher at his home church in Flint, MI.  He served in the United States Air Force during the Korean War.  He was an accomplished fast pitch softball player where he won a state championship.  He was also an avid ping-pong player where he won a New York state championship.

Preceded in death by his wife Marjorie Edwards.  Survived by his children (daughter) Rebecca Edwards of Palmetto, FL, (son) Dale Edwards of Springfield, MO, (son) Randall Edwards of Highlandville, MO and (daughter) Joy Edwards Reynaud (Rusty) of Fair Grove, MO; 8 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren.

Visitation will be from 1:00pm to 2:00pm and funeral services beginning at 2:00pm on Thursday May 6, 2021 at Gorman-Scharpf Funeral Home, with Rev. Chris Thixton officiating.  Burial will follow in Selmore Cemetery.  A dinner will follow at First Baptist Church in Ozark. Online condolences may be left at www.gormanscharpf.com
