Jacques Sachs, was born February 25, 1921, and passed away peacefully on the afternoon of June 3, 2016 at The Manor at Elfindale with his loving family surrounding him.
Jacques is preceded in death by his parents Jacques and Anna Sachs, his sister Jeanette Ballard and his brother Richard Sachs.
Jacques is survived by Lucille, his wife of 71 years; their children Lucy Kawaihalau, Kauai, Hawaii; Linda McMurry and husband Larry of Springfield, Missouri; Jacques Sachs and wife Cindy of Salem, Missouri and Janine Sachs of Nixa, Missouri. Grandchildren and great-grandchildren include: Laura Hancock and husband Joe, children Rachel, Emma, and Joseph of Frisco, Texas; Alicia Asuncion and husband Ross, children Logan, Micah, Amber Joy and Kobi of Kauai, Hawaii; Lane McMurry and wife Courtney, children Connor, Cohen and John Cross; Kevin Kawaihalau and children Kezia and Kawena of Kauai, Hawaii; Andrea Wilson and husband Rick, children Emily, Sam, and Caroline of The Woodlands, Texas and Ben Sachs of Houston, Texas and cousins, nieces and nephews.
Jacques was the oldest of three children born to Jacques and Anna Sachs in Long Island City, New York. He graduated from Andrew Jackson High School in New York in 1939. He enlisted in the Army Air Force in 1942 and served as a Pilot during World War II until 1946.
Jacques married Lucille, his high school sweetheart, on November 29, 1944. Following the war Jacques and Lucille settled in Springfield, Missouri. He retired in 1981 from Southwestern Bell Telephone Company after 35 years of service as a Lineman, Cable Splicer and PBX installer. Jacques enjoyed many years on his farm by Lake Springfield raising Black Angus cattle. He was a member of the First Congregational Church and later of Central Christian Church in Springfield, Missouri.
Jacques' life demonstrated his heartfelt values of hard work, generosity, kindness, and integrity. The Springfield TelComm Credit Union was a significant part of his life, having been a member and volunteering for over 60 years. He enjoyed serving on the Board of Directors and as Chairman for many years.
Jacques and Lucille loved to travel to different parts of the country, visiting, and spending time with family and friends.
The family wants to express their sincere appreciation to the staff of The Manor at
Elfindale for their loving care and support over the last four years.
Jacques will be greatly missed by his family and all those who knew him.
Jacques was honored in 2006 when the Springfield TelComm Credit Union created the Jacques Sachs Scholarship Fund. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Fund at 2155 East Sunshine Street, Springfield, MO 65804… or your favorite charity.
Funeral services will be held at 1:30 PM on Monday, June 6, 2016 in Gorman-Scharpf Brentwood Chapel. Interment will follow in Missouri Veterans Cemetery at 3:00 PM. Visitation will be from 4:00 PM to 6:00 PM on Sunday in the funeral home.
