IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Jacqueline Nan
Moore
May 27, 1924 – August 6, 2016
Jacqueline Dickinson Moore, 92, Springfield, departed this life on August 6, 2016. She was born May 27, 1924, in Sanford, Florida, to Joseph J. Dickinson and Sinah Millen Dickinson.
She graduated from Orlando Senior High School in 1941, and received her R.N. from the Jefferson College of Nursing, Philadelphia, in 1944.
Jackie served as a 1st Lieutenant in the United States Air Force from 1953 to 1956, and was stationed at Burtonwood Air Force Base, Warrington, Cheshire, England. She took full advantage of the opportunity to travel, visiting Egypt, Germany, Ireland, and Switzerland. While at Burtonwood, she met her husband of sixty years, Howard Groebe Moore, of Cameron, Missouri, who was serving in the USAF as assistant air installations officer. They were married in Birmingham, Alabama on May 28, 1956.
Jackie and Howard moved to Springfield in 1958. She worked as a nurse at Smith Glynn Calloway Clinic, and later raised two children. Jackie was an active member of Grace United Methodist Church for forty years, leading the church prayer chain up into her 90s. She enjoyed antiquing, crossword puzzles, and reading thrillers, and fully believed that if "you don't use it, you'll lose it", staying active and healthy throughout her life.
Jackie is predeceased by her parents, her sister Clara Bray Burrett, and her brother William Bray. She is survived by her husband Howard, daughter Laurie and son-in-law Rob Hermance-Moore of Columbus, Ohio, son Douglas Moore of Springfield, and granddaughter Allison Hermance-Moore of Columbus.
The family will welcome friends on Friday, August 12th at Grace United Methodist Church, 600 S. Jefferson Avenue, with calling hours 10:30 am to 11:30 am, and service following at 11:30 am. Private interment will be held at the Missouri Veterans Cemetery, Springfield. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to Grace United Methodist Church.
