Jacqueline "Jackie" Mae (Booher) Gillenwaters, 94, of Chestnutridge, MO, was born April 15, 1929 in Wichita, KS to Lela and Orville Booher. Jackie passed away after a short illness and after receiving visits from many of her friends and family in Springfield, MO.
Jackie was a homemaker and partner with her husband, James Donald, in property development. An animal lover, Jackie's home was a sanctuary for pets of all kinds, and her compassion for animals knew no bounds. She leaves behind a legacy of kindness and care for the creatures she adored. Jackie was a gifted seamstress, knitter, doll-maker, and collector. Jackie touched the hearts of many through her kindness, grace, and unwavering love for her family. She will be dearly missed and remembered with love and gratitude by all who knew her.
Jackie was married to James Donald (J.D.) Gillenwaters on May 17, 1947. The couple had three children, James Orville, D.J. (DiCiacca), and Mark Steven. Jackie and J.D. celebrated 65 years of marriage before his passing in 2012.
Jackie was preceded in death by her parents, her husband J.D., her brothers Orville, Forrest, and James, her sister Jeannie Munsey, and her son Mark Steven.
Jackie is survived by her sister Bonnie Wood; her children, James and D.J.; her grandchildren, Laurali, Courtney, Whitney, and Mark; great-grandchildren, James, Katherine, Finn, Matthew, Nathan, Alfio, and Beatrix; and many nieces and nephews. She was respected and loved, and will be missed by the many who knew her.
Services in her memory will be held at Gorman-Scharpf Funeral Home on Friday, October 27, 2023 at 11:00AM. Graveside services will be following at 1:00pm at Ozark Memorial Park Cemetery in Branson, MO.
