Lt Col Jack Allen Henry, USAF, Ret., 90, of Nixa, MO went home to be with the Lord on Monday, January 28, 2019. He was born in Neodesha, KS, on July 26, 1928. His childhood was spent growing up in Coffeyville, KS. He entered the Army in August 1945. He was in pilot training in the U.S. Air Force when it became a separate service in 1947. He retired from the USAF in 1972 as a Command Pilot with the rank of Lieutenant Colonel. He married Dalphna McAfee in 1949 at Walker AFB in Roswell, NM, and they made their home at many duty stations around the world. Upon retirement from the USAF, Jack became a Professor at Baptist Bible College in Springfield, MO. He was ordained to the gospel ministry by High Street Baptist Church in Springfield, MO in 1977. He then pastored for a time in Canyon, TX. His last employment was serving as the Executive Vice President of Boston Baptist College in Boston, MA, where the administration building is named in his honor.
Jack is survived by his wife of 70 years, Dalphna, and their three children; Jack Jr. of Key West, FL, Carol Edge of Rogersville, MO, and Joseph of Murrells Inlet, SC. Survivors also include 11 grandchildren and 19 great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be held on Monday, February 4, 2019 from 11:00 AM – 12:30 PM at Gorman-Scharpf Funeral Home, with Funeral Service to follow at 12:30 PM. Graveside Service with full military honors will follow at 2:00 PM at the Missouri Veterans Cemetery in Springfield, MO.
