Jack J. Engleman, 86 of Springfield, Mo. passed away Wednesday, June 12, 2012. He was born October 21, 1925 to George and Mary Engleman of Bolivar, Missouri who preceded him in death. Jack grew up in Bolivar, Missouri, graduating from Bolivar High School in 1943. He was an avid model airplane enthusiast, which probably influenced him in his choice to enlist in the Air Corps during World War II. He served in the South Pacific and was discharged in April 1946. His first priority upon returning was to marry his fiancée, Helen. They remained in Bolivar, and he continued his education, graduating from Southwest Baptist College in 1947. He then graduated from Southwest Missouri State College in 1949. After a year at the University of Missouri he joined the Kemper Insurance Group as Resident Claims Representative. His territory was the Southwest section of Missouri. He served in this capacity until his retirement in 1986. Early on he became interested in Model Railroading, and through the years always had an extensive layout built in some portion of their home. One corner was usually reserved for Helen and her classic guitar. Although their home was always Springfield, their home away from home was on their boat at the Lake of the Ozarks, and in Beufort, SC in the winter months. Until recent years they were both avid golfers and were former members of Twin Oaks and Millwood Golf Clubs. Jack and Helen are longtime members of King's Way United Methodist Church having joined over 55 years ago, shortly after it was chartered. They were active in all areas of their church life for many years. Jack is survived by his wife, Helen. Graveside services will be held Wednesday, June 20, 2012 at 1 p.m. in Missouri Veterans Cemetery, under the care of Gorman-Scharpf Funeral Home.
