Obituary

Jackie Alex Dixon, age 87,  entered heaven on August 18, 2017 escorted on the wings of angels.

Jack was born on October 6th, 1929, the first child to Hadley & Esther Dixon (Alexander).  Jack began his formal education riding to first grade in a school bus engineered by his father. Jack's favorite school subjects were reading, agriculture, and geometry; he graduated from Marion C. Early High School in Morrisville, MO with the class of 1947. Jack received his gracious & loving personality from his mother Esther, his hard-working & positive approach-to-life-attitude from his father Hadley, and his love of nature from his maternal great-grandpa Wasner.

Jack was married on February 28, 1949 to Wanda Jean (Jeannie) Tennis. To this union four children were born: Gail, Sherry, Cynthia (Cindy), and Jack II.

Jack entered the plumbing business as an apprentice in 1953. His first job was at Crank's Drug Store on Commercial St. He received his journeyman license in 1956 and his master license in 1965. At that time, he formed Jack Dixon Plumbing Company, specializing in installing dental offices. Jack's business philosophy was to work for friends only. If customers did not become friends, they found themselves looking for a new plumber.

As his family grew, Jack purchased a cabin in Cedar Creek, Missouri on Bull Shoals Lake- so he could hunt, fish, and enjoy the great Missouri outdoors with his family.

After Jeannie's death, God's grace placed Phyllis Davis Allen in his life and they were married June 6, 1987. This union gained Jack another daughter, Jerri.

For 30 years, Jack- with Phyllis always following behind- traipsed into the woods hunting turkey, white-tailed deer, and elk. They spent many hours on the water fishing at Bull Shoals Lake, Eleven Point River, and Lake of the Woods, Canada.

Jack & Phyllis have enjoyed traveling to: California, Louisiana, Arizona, Colorado, Washington DC, New York, Virginia, Canada, Alaska, Italy, Sicily, and Israel.

Jack accepted Christ as his Savior at an early age and was an active member of Campbell United Methodist church.

Jack was preceded in death by his parents, Hadley & Esther Dixon; his first wife, Jeannie Dixon; his granddaughter, Chesa Strickland, his daughter, Cindy Thomas; his brother, John Dixon; and his son-in-law, Dan Upp. Jack is survived by his wife Phyllis Dixon; his daughters, Gail Upp (Dan), Sherry Jorgensen (Joe), Jerri Shaw (Rob); his son, Jack Dixon II (Janevra); Cindy's fiancé, Hal Nester; his 11 grandchildren, Chris Upp (Jill), Amy Bollinger (Kevin), Jay Upp (Amy), Todd Elder (Stephanie), Jeromy Thomas (Christy), Jennifer Bowler (Robby), Jack Dixon III, Jonathon Dixon, Amanda Strickland, Molly Strickland, and Robbie Shaw II; his 14 great-grandchildren; his two nephews David Dixon (Beth), and Mike Dixon (Jan); as well as a host of other family members and friends.

For Jack, a leisurely walk through the woods, or through a field, was a communication with all nature; for him, he was walking hand-in-hand with his Divine Creator. Unassuming, quietly and without fanfare, he "lived in his house beside the road and was a friend to man." (Sam Walter Foss)
