Let not your heart be troubled; you believe in God, believe also in me. In my Father's house are many mansions, if it were not so, I would have told you. I go to prepare a place for you, I will come again and receive you to Myself; and where I am there you may be also.
Jack was born on April 30, 1928 in Springfield, MO. at the old Williams' place out on South Fremont (now Neighbors Mill) and he passed away on January 17, 2017 in his home. He was the 8th child of ten children born to Lillie O. and Vernon E. Davidson. Growing up in a large family had its share of numerous hardships and immeasurable joys. To quote a cousin "It was more fun to go to the Davidson's than to a 3 ring circus!"
He met his lifelong love, Sally May Gibson, one Sunday morning as Sally was on her way to Mt. Carmel Methodist Church and Jack headed to Pythian Avenue Baptist. They were married June 6, 1949 in Springfield, Missouri. Jack and Sally weathered many storms together always leaning on each other for 65-1/2 years. They were blessed with 3 children, Julie, Bob and Brenda.
Jack worked diligently in varied professions before settling into a career within the insurance industry. He and good friend Willard 'Bud' Strauser were partners for many years and their smiles and friendly demeanor won over multiple clients and friends through the years.
Jack was well known in the area for his talent to sing along side with his younger brother Don and later his son Bob and entertain multitudes either on stage, radio, television or at Mooneyham's Barn on Saturday nights. His favorite venue to sing was always in church. His guitar a 1961 Epiphone Texan, a Christmas gift from Sally. He lovingly passed on to Bob in 2013 and has enjoyed singing and sharing his voice and seeing Bob enjoy the old axe as much as he did.
Jack's worn bible opens on its own to John 14, read so many times by so many friends, family, caregivers and visitors.
Jack was preceded in death by his parents Vernon E. and Lillie O. Davidson, brothers Paul, Forrest, Don and Alvoree and sisters Ila Brooke and JoAnne Thompson and his Sally in 2014 and daughter Brenda in 2008.
He is survived by sisters Mildred Hunter, Esther Giacalone and brother Ralph Davidson. Daughter Julie Maupin (David) son Bob (Judy) grandchildren Matt Daily and his girlfriend Sarah Rinaldi, Bobbie Jo Davidson Caine (Brian), Chase Davidson (Tiffany) Jessica Weymuth (Chris) Jade Payne (J. D.) Hunter Jackson Davidson, Brindelyn Nevaeh Davidson, and great-grandchildren Josalyn Lilly and Peyton Weymuth, Cameron and Riley Caine and Noah Davidson and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
