Jack Littrell
Breid Usaf Lt Col (Ret)
December 8, 1929 – January 11, 2021
Jack Littrell Breid was born on December 8, 1929 in Fulton, Missouri. He was the only child of Isaac Keely Breid and Mary May Littrell. He graduated from Fulton High School then attended Texas A&M on a scholarship, where he then transferred to Allen Military Academy. Following his graduation with his Associates degree, he went into active duty with the United States Air Force later going on to graduate from the University of Missouri with his bachelor's degree. His military education included squadron officer school, weapons controller school, commander and staff school and air war college.
While serving in active duty, his overseas assignments included Japan and the Philippines with stateside assignments in Alaska, Texas, North Dakota, South Carolina, Florida and Missouri. During his military career his primary duties consisted of Base Commander while stationed in North Dakota and Florida and as the Operations Officer in all other locations. In his 23 years of service, he advanced through the ranks to Lt. Col.
Upon his retirement from the military, he settled with his family in Southwest Missouri where he started his 15-year career with Commerce Bank as their General Service Administrator until retirement in 1992.
Jack is survived by his wife of 63 ½ years, Lillian Marie Kinser and their four children: Cynthia Baker (husband Larry), Patricia Hines (husband Robert), Jacquelyn Bonner (husband Kim), Gregory Breid (wife Anne); seven grandchildren: Joshua Baker, Donovan Baker, Kylie Frederick, Chelsea Kearns, Amanda Bonner-Cramer, Keely Bonner, Samuel Breid; and 13 great- grandchildren: Jackson, Kynnadi, Kyndall, Kadyn, Ethan, Eli, Hunter, Delaney, Colt Weston, Montana, Irelynn, Samantha and Braxton.
One of his proudest memories was participating in the 2016 Honor Flight of the Ozarks to Washington D.C. Memorial contributions may be made to Honor Flight of the Ozarks, 2200 E. Sunshine, Springfield, MO 65804.
Visitation will be Thursday, January 14, 2021 from 4:00 PM to 6:00 PM in Gorman-Scharpf Funeral Home. A private graveside service will be held in Missouri Veterans Cemetery at a later date.
