Rev. Isaac J. Jenkins, Jr., 81, of Springfield, MO passed away at 1:37 p.m. Wednesday, October 31, 2012 in Mercy Hospital. Ike was the oldest child born to Isaac, Sr. and Elzena Enwright Jenkins on April 19, 1931 in Abbeville, S.C. He enlisted in the Army in 1946, and served 23 years total in both the Army and Navy. He served overseas in World War II and Korea. After military service he went to work for the Frisco Railroad. Over the years, he received training as a master shoe maker and attended college in Illinois to become an ordained Baptist minister. He owned and operated Ike's Shoe Repair in Springfield for over 27 years and was well known for making custom orthopedic supports and excellent craftsmanship. Ike pastored several area churches in West Plains and Springfield, including Mt. Moriah Baptist Church, and was active in a number of civic organizations and activities. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Jacqueline (Lenore) Jenkins; a son, Isaac III; a daughter, Mrs. Lyndsey J. Mattison; four brothers and three sisters. He is survived by his wife, Willie P. Canady Jenkins; son, Theodore Jenkins; daughters Claudette Jenkins and Suzanne Jenkins; three brothers; six grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; his wife's 11 children and all of their extended families. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Thursday, November 8th, 2012 in Faith Tabernacle, 2548 N. Fremont, with the Rev. Edward Simmons officiating under the direction of Gorman-Scharpf Funeral Home. Burial with full military honors will follow at Missouri Veterans Cemetery at 2:00 p.m. Visitation will be from 6:00-8:00 p.m. Wednesday, November 7th 2012 in the funeral home.
