Irene Mary Vasquez, 78, Springfield, passed away Saturday, October 30, 2021 in her home.  She was born February 5, 1943 in St. Louis, MO, the daughter of Erwin and Mary Eisenmann.

Irene worked as a medical staff coordinator for St. Joseph Hospital in Kirkwood, Alexian Brothers and St. Mary's Hospitals in St. Louis.  Irene was a great friend to many and will be remembered for her unconditional love to her family. Irene enjoyed spending time with her son and daughter in law, her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Irene was a devout Catholic and lived her life accordingly through her stewardship with St Elizabeth Ann Seton Church as well as her exemplary life style. Before Irene succumbed to her illness she was a very active woman, always looking forward to her Jazzercise classes.  Cats were near and dear to Irene's heart, she raised and cared for many cats throughout her life, each one having a pampered cat life.  Irene touched many people's lives, including several of her caregivers who lovingly cared for her until the end. A few of whom said it never felt like work to take care of Irene.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Fred Joseph Vasquez; and her brother, Norman Eisenmann.

Irene is survived by her son and his wife, Rick and Victoria Vasquez; grandchildren, Fritz (Kia) Vasquez and Madison (Jon) Sartors; and three great-grandchildren, Fred Vasquez, Oliver Vasquez and Oaklee Sartors.

Funeral mass will be held at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, November 3, 2021 in St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Catholic Church, under the care of Gorman-Scharpf Funeral Home.  Visitation will be from 10:00 a.m. until service time. Burial will follow in Resurrection Cemetery.  In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Humane Society of Southwest Missouri, 3161 West Norton Road, Springfield, MO 65803.
