Imogene Sheppard Sullivan, 89, of Springfield, Mo., passed away on Thursday February 24, 2011. Imogene was born March 2, 1921 in Dardanelle, Arkansas, to George J. and Nora Ann (Rainwater) Sheppard. She was preceded in death by brothers, Lindle and Leon Sheppard, and sister, Mildred Redman Kirk. Imogene is survived by her best friend and devoted husband of 71 years, Eugene Sullivan; two loving sons, Virgil Ray and Norman Lee Sullivan; two loving granddaughters, Tara Sullivan and Stacy Sullivan-Nipstad and son-in-law, Josh Nipstad, all residing in Springfield, Mo; one sister, Eulene McAlexander of Helena, Ark.; sister-in-law, Carolyn and husband Charles Craver of Little Rock, Ark.; and many loving nephews and nieces also living in Arkansas. A graduate of England, Ark. high school, Mrs. Sullivan then attended preparatory training school while working as a secretary at the Lonoke, Ark., courthouse. She met Mr. Sullivan at his café and they later moved to Aurora, Missouri. There she became a Merle Norman cosmetics dealer and co-owner of their store Sullivan's Jewelry until they retired in December of 1986. Imogene became a Christian as a young mother and was a member of the Aurora United Methodist Church. Visitation will be Tuesday, March 1 from 6 to 7:30 p.m. and funeral services will be Wednesday, March 2 at 2 p.m. Both services will be held in Gorman-Scharpf on Seminole in Springfield, Mo. Graveside services will follow in Aurora Cemetery. The family would like to thank Jayme and Missy of HPC (hospice care) and Norman's fiancée Sheril Johnson.
