Mr. Hugh Shannon Parks of Springfield, MO passed away on July 3, 2012, at the age of 94. Hugh was born to Robert and Lenna Parks on February 18, 1918 near Crane, MO. He was married to Thelma L. Cope on May 3, 1941 in Clever, MO. After 52 great years of marriage, Thelma passed away suddenly on October 7, 1993 while she and Hugh were on vacation in the State of Michigan. Hugh was a long-time rental property owner, clock collector, and TV repairman. He loved to tinker with electronics and gadgets. He could repair just about anything that he got his hands on. Hugh and Thelma loved to go on road trips and they toured most of the USA and traveled to many foreign countries. He loved to take the grandchildren with him on road trips. Hugh was preceded in death by both of his parents. He is survived by his sister, Ruth Spears; daughter, Lanta Younger and husband Sam; son, Rick Parks and wife Becky; grandchildren, Richie Gates, Jeremy Parks, Jill Procter, Scott Gates, Shannon Butcher, Mandi Crayton, Taylor Parks, Steve Younger, Brian Younger and Greg Younger; great-grandchildren Kodi Joy, Jordan Procter, Kylie Paswaters, Jake Butcher, Chloe Butcher, Carter Crayton, William Gates and Fisher Gates. The family wishes to thank the staff of the Neighborhoods at Quail Creek Care Center and the Omega Health Care staff. Visitation will be Tuesday, July 10 form 7pm - 8:30pm. Funeral service will be Wednesday, July 11 at 1pm in Gorman-Scharpf Brentwood Chapel. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations be made to the Alzheimer's Association of Springfield, MO.
