Howard Dale Kerr, 87, of Springfield, passed away on August 17. He was born August 30, 1928 in Greene County, MO. Son of Charles Calvin Kerr and Maude Henson Kerr. He was united in marriage to Dona Prater in June 1953, for 62 years. He worked at Brentwood Texaco and St. Johns. He could make anything out of wood. When Dona asked him to make something, he would make it happen.

He would help Dona with her ceramic shop. He was a quiet man, and a good man. He was a veteran from 1950 to 1952.

Howard is preceded in death by his parents, Charles Calvin Kerr, and Maude Henson Kerr, his wife, Done Jean Prater (Kerr), his son, Jack E. Kerr, and his sisters, Myrtle, Leana, and Helen.

He is survived by his daughter, Karen Matthews, his son-in-laws, John Matthews and Steve Greer, his sister, Maxine Fuhr, his granddaughter, Jennifer Greer, his grandson, Dave Matthews, his great grandson, Dallas Greer, his sister-in-law, Claudine Prater, his nephew, Charles Fuhr, and many more family members.

A funeral service will be held at 10:00 AM, on Wednesday, August 24, 2016, at Gorman-Scharpf Funeral Home.
