Houston Taylor, Jr., 91, of Springfield, passed away September 23, 2022. He was born on December 16, 1930 in Clarksville, AR to Houston Taylor, Sr. and Lois Riddle Taylor. He spent 3 years in the United States Air Force. He received his EdD Doctorate from the University of Arkansas in Fayetteville. Houston was a Professor in the Department of Industrial Technology at Southwest Missouri State University, now Missouri State University, until his retirement. Houston was a lifelong ham radio operator and enjoyed discussing that knowledge with his friends. He was an airplane enthusiast and, along with his wife, received his private pilot's license. Houston was a machinist and loved building things, including the violin his daughter still plays to this day.

He was preceded in death by his parents and wife, Charlotte Ann Taylor.

He is survived by his daughter, Dr. Lois Stacy Taylor and husband Sean Claire of Knoxville, TN.

Visitation will be held on Friday, October 7, 2022 from 6:00 – 8:00 PM at Gorman-Scharpf Funeral Home.
