Obituary

Holly Lynn Bowlin went to be with her Heavenly Father on Sunday, June 24, 2012. The daughter of Earl and Mary Bowlin, she was born in Kansas City, Kansas on April 18, 1959. Her family moved to Joplin, MO in 1960 and Holly attended Stapleton School and Joplin Junior High. In 1972 the family moved to Springfield where Holly attended Glendale High School and graduated from SMS College in 1983. She was a member of Glendale Baptist Church. From an early age Holly loved books and was an avid reader. After graduating from SMS she worked for over 22 years for the Springfield Greene County Library at the Brentwood Branch. She made many friends with her co-workers and patrons. Holly was a long time member of the Springfield Dog Training Club. She spent many hours training her Shelties and preparing them for pet therapy visits. Over the years, she made monthly visits to the pediatric department at Mercy Hospital and to Chesterfield Care Center. She also took many trips to show her Shelties in the four state area and was awarded many ribbons. Holly loved gardening and her yard was always a show place. She knew all the answers about what to plant and where to plant it. Holly would want to say "Thank You" to so many friends who have helped her through a difficult illness. Special thanks goes to the members of the "The Morning Glory Class" at Ridgecrest Baptist Church for all the cards, flowers and telephone calls. Also, to the Springfield Dog Training Club members who have been so good to support her and to the Mercy Hospice staff for their excellent care. Thank you, Susie Baker, Paula Benedec, Kathy Miller, Kathryn Bowen and Lois Wills for their cards, flowers, phone calls and trips to the movies. Special thanks to Cara Lambert for all the wonderful antiquing travels and visits to many state parks when she was well and able to travel. Holly is survived by her parents Earl and Mary Bowlin; sister, Heidi Askren; brother-in-law, Larry Askren and dear niece Katie. She is also survived by her grandmother, Sybil Agan and several aunts, uncles and cousins. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Pet Therapy of the Ozarks, C/O Lori Sheets, P.O. Box 9462, Springfield, MO 65801, or to C.A.R.E. (no kill shelter), 1328 W. Sunshine, Springfield, MO 65807. Visitation will be at Gorman-Scharpf Funeral Home on Wednesday, June 27, 2012 from 10 to 11 a.m. with the funeral service following at 11 a.m. Burial will follow at Rivermonte Memorial Gardens.
