LIFE REFLECTIONS Herley Arthel Bedell, Jr. was born in Springfield, Missouri to Herley Arthel Bedell, Sr. and Gertrude "Lorene" Wilks Bedell on April 5th 1928. Herley was the first son, and the second child born of five children. Herley accepted Jesus Christ and was Baptized at an early age. He was a member of the families church Pitts Chapel UMC at a young age for several years, and later continued his walk with Christ in service with his wife, Velma. Herley worked for Colonial Bread Company for 38 years and later retired June 1st, 1990. Herley had a passion for bowling and people and he loved playing the guitar. Herley also had a wonderful singing voice which was a best kept secret. Herley was a loving father who raised his children in a God-fearing manner, and as a loving husband and father and grandfather he was depended upon greatly, and he always came through with whatever was required or asked of him. Herley started his eternal journey August 25th, 2010 at 6:25am after a long battle, and he left in the arms of the Lord. He was preceded in death by his parents, two sisters Alma and Joann, and a daughter Victoria Elizabeth. He leaves to cherish his memory his loving wife Velma, five children: Lorraine(Blaine), Floyd (Dee, Dee), Herley III (Sue), Larry (Nancy), Kenny( Jamie); two foster children Marie (Ed), Garland (Lynette); two brothers, Marvin (Carolyn) and Bobby Bedell. He leaves a host of grandchildren, great grandchildren, and great-great grandchildren, Two special nieces Amy Williams (June) and Cynthia "Cindy Bear" Duncan (Arthur) A special Cousin, Anna Smith. A host of nieces, nephews, cousins and special friends. Herley was a caring and loving husband, father, grandfather, uncle, cousin and friend too many, and lived life to the fullest. He will be greatly missed by all who loved and personally knew him. Funeral services will be held at 12:00 p.m. Tuesday, August 31, 2010 in Gorman-Scharpf Brentwood Chapel. Burial will follow in Hazelwood Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 11:00 a.m. until service time Tuesday in the funeral home.
