Herbert W. Goldbeck was born to Arthur and Viola Goldbeck in Lyons, IL on February 19, 1937. He went home to be with his Heavenly Father on October 2, 2017 at the age of 80 years. He was united in marriage to Shirley Goldammer on February 23, 1963 in Jefferson City, Missouri. The couple were both happily married and best friends for 54 years.
Herb graduated from Morton High School in Cicero, IL. He served in the US Army from Oct. 1956 to Aug. 1958 and was stationed in Korea for 13 months. He earned a Bachelor of Arts degree with an Accounting Major from Valparaiso University, Valparaiso, IN in 1962. He also earned a Masters in Taxation from DePaul University, Chicago, IL in 1973.
He is survived by his wife, Shirley and two beautiful daughters: Tiffany (and husband Steve) Eskew of Springfield, MO and Kristin (and husband Bob) Schuetz of Makanda, IL; grandchildren Ariana Eskew, Bo (Robert) Schuetz and Kailyn Schuetz (and husband Scott) Harmon; and great-grandson Warren Scott Harmon.
Herb was employed by the Federal Government for 32 years and retired in 1993. After retirement, he enjoyed traveling throughout the states and Canada. He loved his God, his family and his friends. He enjoyed working with woodwork and especially on stained-glass projects. He created 19 Tiffany-style lamps and 19 Tiffany-style windows. He also created over 800 Tiffany-style crosses and angels which he gifted to those he cherished. Although approached on many occasions to sell his sun catchers, he always refused.
Visitation will be Monday, October 16, 2017 from 9 to 10:00 a.m. at Gorman-Scharpf Funeral Home. Service will follow at 10:00 a.m. in the funeral home.
