Obituary

Henry Kyle went home with the angels Monday, May 23, 2011 at his home. He was born in Parsons, Kansas on September 14, 1926 to Harry Arthur Kyle and Emma Julia Miedl. He lived in Parsons, attending school through High School until he joined the US Air Force in February 1945. He served in WWII as a Flight Engineer until his discharge in October 1946. Henry was stationed at Ft. Leavenworth, KS; Amarillo, TX; Wichita Falls, TX; and served in Puerto Rico assigned to the 330th Transportation Squadron. He married Mary Lou Gardner on February 14, 1947 in Parsons, Kansas. Henry went back to finish his education, graduating from Parsons, Jr. College then, going to Tulsa, Oklahoma to the Spartan School of Aeronautics where he received his degree in Meteorology. In December of 1949 he received his Civil Service appointment to the U.S. Weather Bureau. He served at Grand Island, Nebraska, Wichita, Kansas, Goodland, Kansas and Springfield, Missouri. He retired September 19, 1981. Henry was preceded in death by his parents; daughter, Judy Giddings; grandson, Mathew Flummerfelt; brother, Robert Kyle; and sister-in-law, Mary Jean Kyle. He is survived by Mary Lou Kyle, his wife of 64 years; children, Carolyn Flummerfelt and husband, Mike, Cathy Ellison and husband, Kenny, Hetz Kyle and wife, Cece, Shelly Kyle and David Giddings; and 15 grandchildren and great- grandchildren. Private family service will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Convoy Of Hope or American Red Cross Disaster Relief.
