Henry (Hank) A. Gerwert was born February 10, 1927 in St. Louis, Missouri and departed this life June 2, 2012 in Springfield, Missouri. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Mary Schubert and their children, Michael and Jana Gerwert. He is survived by a daughter, Mary Lamb (of the first marriage), her husband Reggie and their son, Austin, Hank's favorite baseball player; stepson Mark McClelland and wife Debi. Hank worked for Missouri University in Columbia and then retired from Southwest Missouri State University here in Springfield. He served as an ARMS officer for many years and enjoyed attending his Navy reunions. The St. Louis Cardinals were by far his favorite team and he loved going to the Springfield Cardinal games. Hank had a host of nieces and nephews plus many friends. He had a good, long life and will be missed, but is home now. Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m. Wednesday, June 6, 2012 in Gorman-Scharpf Brentwood Chapel. Burial with full military honors will follow in Missouri Veteran's Cemetery. Visitation will be Tuesday from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. in the funeral home.
